New Jersey nurses face job loss for refusing to assist abortions
Dear people planning on becoming doctors/nurses, don’t study to be a doctor/nurse if you don’t want to do your fucking job. If you have any convictions that will keep you from doing said job, treating people, or saving lives, clearly the health field is not the place for you. Maybe get a job in the local grocery store or something. If you’re a health professional and I’m hemorrhaging in your hospital, I can die if you refuse to help me, but if you’re some asshole cashier and refuse to help, I can find the cereal aisle on my own.
^^ In regards to this, health care providers have the right to refuse to assist in procedures they don’t believe in/approve of, especially those procedures that question morality and ethics, with the condition that they have to be able to find another RN who can cover them. The nurse can’t refuse to help you when you’re hemorrhaging in the hospital, and obviously you’ll die. You won’t die if she refuses to assist in your elective abortion.
And about what you said about “If you have any convictions that will keep you from doing said job, treating people, or saving lives,…” — Obviously, the nurses that are refusing have no convictions about saving lives.
